All 75 Arkansas counties to offer collection opportunities October 24
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (October 1, 2026) — Arkansas law enforcement agencies will host
medication collection events in every county on Arkansas Drug Take Back Day Saturday,
October 24.
Arkansans will have the opportunity to safely and anonymously dispose of expired, unused or
unwanted medications at participating collection sites in their area, helping reduce the risk of
prescription drug misuse, accidental poisonings and waterway contamination.
“Substance misuse prevention starts right at home, and Arkansans in every corner of the state
have the power to protect their loved ones,” said Kirk Lane, director of the Arkansas Opioid
Recovery Partnership (ARORP). “Cleaning out medicine cabinets and dropping by a collection
site only takes a few minutes, and leads to a much greater impact.”
Law enforcement agencies, community members, community partners and volunteers came
together in spring 2026 to ensure the safe disposal of 50,240 pounds of medications. 367 tons
have been destroyed since the Arkansas Drug Take Back initiative began in 2010.
Participation in Arkansas Drug Take Back Day is a safe alternative to keeping medications in the
home or disposing of them improperly. In addition to the twice-yearly statewide collection event,
more than 300 permanent drop boxes are available for Arkansans to use year-round.
Residents can find nearby drop boxes at ARDrugTakeBack.org/Dispose-of-Drugs or through the
ReviveAR app.
